After three years of protest by local residents, plans to turn the former dairy site at the junction of Baring Road and St. Mildred Road into a multi-storey warehouse are still not resolved - and Lewisham Conservatives, who have been supporting local residents in opposing this scheme, are pressing for an end to the uncertainty.
"Local people have quite rightly had enough" says local Conservative Councillor David Britton. "To try to put such a visually intrusive development in this location is completely unacceptable - and yet the Labour -run council are still dragging their feet over killing off this unpopular scheme once and for all."
"The site was never an industrial site, it was only used as a dairy because it had previously been a dairy farm and is located in a residential area which already has traffic problems. We are calling for the site to be used for a low density housing scheme more suited to the area, not a commercial development."
Conservatives say: End this long running farce now.
