Browns Tax Bombshell to hit Lewisham Families hard - 30/11/08

Gordon Brown's Pre Budget Report will hit Lewisham families with permanent tax increases, with every family in Britain now due to pay the equivalent of an extra £1,500 in tax over the course of the next Parliament.

By 2012/13 anyone earning more than £20,000 will be paying more tax. Those hit by Labour's 'tax bombshell' budget include most teachers, social workers, policemen, paramedics, firemen and office workers.

Commenting on the dire prospects for local families Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Jonathan Clamp said:

"I am appalled at the burden Lewisham families will now have to share. Gordon Brown failed to fix the roof whilst the sun was shining and now we must all pay for his mistakes. By increasing taxes and borrrowing Labour are mortgaging Britains future to the hilt.''

As well as painful tax increases, Gordon Brown has increased Britains national debt to over £1 trillion. We are now borrowing more than at any time in our history.

Gordon Brown is mortgaging our future to save his own.
