Libs Dems third again as Tories soar in Norwich North - 24/07/09

Conservatives: 13,591    Labour: 6,243

Gordon Brown's discredited Labour Government suffered another body blow today as David Cameron's Conservatives retook the Norwich North Parliamentary seat.

In the by-election caused by the resignation of the sitting Labour MP, Conservatives overturned a 5,000 + majority to romp home by 13,591 to Labour's 6,243; a swing from Labour to Conservative of over 16%.

Liberal Democrats, despite their regular claim of 'winning here', came in a poor third, just a few hundred votes ahead of UKIP.

A swing of this size repeated at a General Election would see Lewisham East returning Conservative Candidate Jonathan Clamp as their Member of Parliament.
