In April Lee Green Conservatives alerted residents in Woodyates Road, Pitfold Close and Pitfold Road over a planning application to demolish two perfectly good houses in Pitfold Close to provide access to a planned new development. The plans included:
The demolition of 12 & 13 Pitfold Close SE12 and the construction of 6 four bedroom houses, 3 three bedroom self-contained maisonettes and 17 two bedroom self-contained flats, together with 26 car parking spaces, associated landscaping and new access at 11-14 and land to the rear of Pitfold Close. (Outline Application).
Following our leaflet informing residents of the plans a total of 88 objections to the planning department were received, with no letters or emails in favour of the project.
It has recently been announced that this planning application has now been rejected by senior planning officers on the grounds of:
'excessive density and poor layout that would result in overdevelopment of the site, providing a poor standard of accommodation for future occupiers, whilst also compromising the amenities of the existing occupiers within Pitfold Close by way of loss of outlook, sunlight and privacy contrary to numerous planning regulations outlined on the planning section of Lewisham Council’s website' (www.lewisham.gov.uk)
A similar application was rejected by Lewisham’s planners in November 2009 for similar reasons. On this occasion there were 107 objections with no submissions in favour of the project.
Lee Green Conservatives offer their congratulations to local residents over this second victory and pledge our continued support to residents over any future planning applications of a similar nature for this site.
